Jennifer Hansen has been named Chief Executive Officer (CEO) by the Starr Hospice Board of Directors. She succeeds Bob Boehm, who retired at the end of September, but will continue working in a consultative role with the organization during the transition.
“Among the highly qualified candidates we considered, we found Jennifer to be the best suited person to lead our organization into the future,” says Craig Eicher, president of the Starr Hospice Board of Directors. “She has much knowledge and demonstrated successes in the hospice and home health fields, and we are confident that she will ensure that we maintain our high level of compassionate, quality care.”
Hansen has more than 20 years of nursing and healthcare business development experience in the Bay Area. Most recently she served as general manager of Comfort Keepers, a Sodexo company located in Walnut Creek. There, she provided leadership, direction and had been responsible for managing daily operations and had complete oversight of a corporate-owned research and development location.
From 2006 to 2014, Hansen worked for Kindred Health Care where she provided patient care and led her team in business development. She successfully negotiated contracts with major hospitals in the Bay Area while with Kindred. Prior to that, she worked for HR/Manor Care as a manager of market development, managing a sales team to develop business growth for skilled nursing and post-hospitalization care.
Hansen previously worked At Starr in a leadership position from 2014 to 2017. During that time, she and her team focused on building relationships with Starr's partners and enhanced responsiveness to patient and family needs.
“I’m honored to have been chosen as the CEO of Starr Hospice and Home Health, where my heart has always been,” says Hansen. “This is such as wonderful organization and I knew I would return here someday. I am fully committed to serving our community and fulfilling our mission to provide comfort, support and guidance to those who need our help.”
Bob Boehm was named CEO in 2015, after serving on the board of directors. During his tenure, he brought strong and visionary leadership to Starr, and helped position the agency as a leader in hospice and home health services in the Tri-Valley community. “As I retire from Starr Hospice and Home Health, I want to say that it has been an honor to serve our community’s patients and families,” says Boehm.
“On behalf of the board, I want to thank Bob for his many years of guidance and leadership. At the same time we warmly welcome Jennifer back to Starr as she leads our organization into a bright future,” says Eicher.
